Who We Are
Castleman Healthcare is a GP federation in Dorset owned by 12 GP practices. Our aim is to help our practices meet the many challenges of delivering primary care. Established in 2015, Castleman Healthcare exists to help our member practices achieve more by working together. Our core business is designed to alleviate some of challenges and pressures faced by our general practices through providing some direct services and business management.
Our Practices
Castleman Healthcare is owned by 12 GP practices across Dorset. The GP practices collaborate as three separate PCNs to improve care for their patients, but also come together as Castleman Healthcare. We help support our member practices and the PCNs to meet the many challenges of delivering primary care for over 130,000 patients.
Our members are arranged around three PCN's (Primary Care Networks) serving over 125,000 patients in multiple local communities. The PCNs are Crane Valley, Wimborne & Ferndown and Poole North
What We Do
Castleman's purpose is to make our practice teams working lives easier by representing them during discussions which will impact the way healthcare is delivered locally. We provide direct services to our practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs), including business intelligence, business and clinical services. We also represent the voice of our practices during discussions about how healthcare in Dorset is to be delivered in future.

General practice is under pressure, and our purpose is simple: to make working lives easier. We support practices and PCNs with business support and deliver clinical services with integrity, trust, fairness, and a commitment to doing things properly. This defines us as a business, particularly the way we represent our member practices during discussions which will impact the way patient care is delivered locally.
Our strength lies in collaboration. Clinicians offer specialist support, staff from various practices help run Castleman, and our business experts ensure we operate efficiently.
Founded in 2015, our first major success was the Public Health contracts, followed by the ICPCS service. We also provide business consultancy to PCNs and the Dorset General Practice Alliance. The Castleman Advisory Committee keeps our work aligned with our members’ goals.
As a not-for-profit, all financial surpluses are reinvested into our practices.
